Before LASIK I worried about my eyes and really felt like my vision was steadily worsening. I wondered how bad it could get if it continued. This is not to say my vision can never change now that I’ve had LASIK, but it has been steady at 20/20 for almost 4 years now and the steady decline no longer seems to be a concern.
I had nearly constant discomfort from contacts. They didn’t hurt, but after a few hours they seemed to dry out and I had to yawn or use drops to keep them moist. It was hard to see through dry contacts. I’m happy to be free of that, plus the dents in the bridge of my nose that the glasses caused. :)
Even with glasses and contacts, I wasn’t 20/20. I was especially inhibited while driving. It was hard for me to see road signs until I was right up on them and sometimes even then I had to squint. Now I can see them from a distance. And the trees and the tops of the buildings on the side of the road are well-defined. It makes the drive to work a whole lot prettier.
Since LASIK I’m 20/20???‚¬?¦ better than I ever was with glasses or contacts. I could never have achieved this degree of clarity without LASIK. It has given me renewed quality of life: waking up in the morning and being able to see immediately without having to fumble around for glasses, eliminating the step of having to put contacts in while I’m putting on makeup and fixing my hair, and being able to exercise without worrying about sweat getting into my contacts or glasses slipping down my nose. All of these frustrations are gone. LASIK is freedom to me!

Many thanks to Dr. Boothe,
Jen
