The Ticket SPORTSRADIO 1310/1700
Dear Dr. Boothe;
Thank you for making my Lasik Surgery a pleasant and pain free experience. You and your staff were professional, efficient and comforting throughout the entire process.
As the Program Director of Sportsradio 1310 the Ticket I spend about twelve to fourteen hours a day at the office attempting to keep all the crazy talk show hosts in line. During those many work hours I use a computer that would cause my contacts to dry up and irritate my eyes. Since having the Lasik Surgery at Boothe Eye Care and Laser Center I no longer have to worry about that daily irritation, itchiness and discomfort. The Lasik surgery really has improved my life.
Thank you for explaining the process and for being clear on the expectations. Your patience in answering all of my questions and addressing all of my concerns put me at great ease. The procedure itself was quick and totally pain free. In addition, I experienced very little post-operative discomfort. Best of all, I was 20-15 the day after my surgery.
I greatly appreciate your service, professionalism and expertise and I will gladly recommend you to all my friends and business associates who could benefit from the Lasik surgery.
Sincerely;
Bruce Gilbert

Before LASIK I worried about my eyes and really felt like my vision was steadily worsening. I wondered how bad it could get if it continued. This is not to say my vision can never change now that I’ve had LASIK, but it has been steady at 20/20 for almost 4 years now and the steady decline no longer seems to be a concern.
I had nearly constant discomfort from contacts. They didn’t hurt, but after a few hours they seemed to dry out and I had to yawn or use drops to keep them moist. It was hard to see through dry contacts. I’m happy to be free of that, plus the dents in the bridge of my nose that the glasses caused. ![]()
Even with glasses and contacts, I wasn’t 20/20. I was especially inhibited while driving. It was hard for me to see road signs until I was right up on them and sometimes even then I had to squint. Now I can see them from a distance. And the trees and the tops of the buildings on the side of the road are well-defined. It makes the drive to work a whole lot prettier.
Since LASIK I’m 20/20???¬?¦ better than I ever was with glasses or contacts. I could never have achieved this degree of clarity without LASIK. It has given me renewed quality of life: waking up in the morning and being able to see immediately without having to fumble around for glasses, eliminating the step of having to put contacts in while I’m putting on makeup and fixing my hair, and being able to exercise without worrying about sweat getting into my contacts or glasses slipping down my nose. All of these frustrations are gone. LASIK is freedom to me!
Many thanks to Dr. Boothe,
Jen

Dr. Boothe how I can’t thank you enough for making a difference in my life. I had glasses and contacts since I was 13 years old. Now I can live my life without ever worrying if I am almost out of my contacts or losing my glasses.
Before I could not drive at night, and during the day when I did drive, I still could not read all the road signs, even with my contacts on. Now I cannot believe how perfectly clear the road signs are and how well I can see at night. Most of all, my headaches are gone. Jose and I can enjoy more sport activities together now, plus he does not have to drive me at night anymore for simple errands.
I will say that Jose and I interviewed other doctors for my lasik surgery and you were the most impressive in this area of expertise. With all the time you and your staff take with each patient and all the latest laser technology that is offered today, Jose and I were impressed with your professional demeanor. Other doctors bombarded us with other types of treatments such as botox, eyelid surgery etc. which was not what I was looking for.
I had total confidence in you and your staff knowing you specialize in lasik surgery and lasik eye surgery only. This made all the difference to me… I wanted a doctor who really cared about my eyesight, not selling me other surgery that had nothing to do with my visit.
Thank you so very much for making it possible in giving me the corrected and perfect vision I never thought possible. Jose and I will always be grateful to you and your staff.
Sincerely,
Jose and Monika Guzman

From “Health & Fitness”: Are you a candidate?

What do Cindy Crawford, Kim Basinger, Troy Aikman, Tiger Woods, Rocky Thompson, Shawn Chambers, Wide Boggs and hundreds more celebrities and professional athletes have in common? All of these celebrities have attained 20/20 or better vision by undergoing LASIK, the much talked about vision correction procedure that promises an end to corrective glasses and contacts for qualified candidates. Chances are we all have a friend, co-worker or family member who raves about the benefits of the popular procedure which has been performed over 2 million times around the world.
A variety of surgical vision correction procedures have been available for the last forty years (e.g. RK, ALK and PRK), so why all the excitement about LASIK? According to 15 years of clinical data, LASIK is safer and more predictable, has better success rates and a shorter recovery time than the prior generations of procedures. Furthermore, LASIK is less stressful for the patient and much more affordable for the budget.
In performing LASIK, short for Later In-Situ Keratomileusis, an automated, precision controlled instrument called the microkeratome is used to create a hinged flap in the cornea no thicker than a strand of human hair. This flap is delicately opened to the side to expose the cornea underneath. Computer controlled pulses of “cool” laser light gently shape the cornea to preprogrammed specifications. The flap is then reset in its original position and adheres immediately without the need for stitches. The entire process usually takes no more than 90 seconds per eye, with both eyes being corrected in one procedure. The patient is typically sent home after 1 1/2 to 2 hours spent in the office.
Some patients are amazed to experience no discomfort whatsoever while others report a mild feeling or irritation much like in eyelash in the eye, which dissipates within 48 hours after the procedure. All patients are asked to return to the office the day after surgery to ensure that flaps arc healing in the correct position. Protective eyewear must be worn for one-week post operatively while sleeping to prevent accidental rubbing. After one week the flaps are usually healed sufficiently so that patients my resume all normal activities. Complete healing occurs within a month.
State-of-the-art laser technology also contributes to the higher success rates of LASIK. The VISX Star 2 Excimer laser leaves a smoother more precise contour on the cornea compared to previous, ”hotter” lasers that produced thermal damage and distortion. Success rates for LASIK are indeed impressive. Worldwide statistics show that 95% of patients attain unaided vision of 20/40 or better (legal driving requirements for most states) and 85% achieve 20/20 or better.
We asked Dr. William Boothe, board certified ophthalmologist and medical director of Boothe Eyecare and Laser Center located in Plano what determines whether a person is a LASIK candidate. He explained that the patient must be over 18 years old; 25 if there is astigmatism present, have a stable vision prescription and are free of any active eye or autoimmune diseases. Pregnant or nursing mothers should not undergo LASIK.
Dr. Boothe confirmed that LASIK corrects a wide range of farsightedness, nearsightedness and astigmatism but cautions that it will not prevent the need for reading glasses sometimes after age 40 which items from a condition in a different part of the eye. ”Each case is dealt with on an individual basis, so it is really necessary to come in for a screening at a reputable LASIK center. We (Boothe Eyecare & Laser Center) offer a complimentary screening and consultation during which we perform complete eye examination using the latest in computer and imaging technology and also take the time to educate the patient as to realistic expectations and possible risks.”
Dr. Boothe confirmed the importance of choosing a reputable LASIK center and qualified physician. ”A good center will make you feel comfortable by educating you. They should provide you with vital information about the procedure, success rates, all possible risks and a complete background on the surgeon.” Dr. Boothe says the best advice he can give is to do your homework on the physician by asking questions about his or her training, accreditations and surgical experience, making certain that he/she is board certified in ophthalmology and trained in corneal and refractive surgery.
So, if you are in that 50% of the population with a need for corrective lenses, it seems like the perfect time to look beyond glasses and contacts and explore the alternative of LASIK vision correction!

From “The Colleyville Courier”: New Lasik treatment is an eye opener
By DONNA DONOVAN?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ??
Michelle Moore’s eyes were fine until she got into law school. After that, even with glasses, her sight grew progressively wane. The
Dallas County public defender said she was ready for a permanent solution when she decided, “it would be awfully nice to see when I woke up in the morning???¬??. “I started asking questions of people who had eye surgery,” she recalled. “I really got interested in it that year and began considering it at that point. But doing something with your eyes that’s a little nerve wracking.”??
Moore turned to Dr. William Boothe at the Boothe Eye Core & Laser Center in Plano, who found her to be a good candidate for the new IntraLASIK procedure, which relies on a computer rather than a scalpel. The new treatment is minimally invasive. A computer-controlled laser focused to a precise depth within the eye, creating a corneal flap. At the touch of a button, a suction ring is applied to the eye, which allows a very low vacuum to pull the flap open.??
A second laser then goes through a disposable glass lens to a specific location in the eye. It makes a pre-programmed visual correction and the corneal flap is then placed back into place.
The use of both lasers is safer for the patient and more precise for the correction. No cleaning or sterilization is involved. And 95 percent of complications aec alleviated because no mental blades are used. The patient’s outer surface of the cornea experiences no trauma, and the procedure is completely painless.??
Dr. Boothe specializes in LASIK surgery exclusively and was the first LASIK surgeon in the
Dallas-Fort Worth area to use the IntraLASIK procedure. ”I personally consult with every patient who decides to have surgery,” he pointed out. “What determines how compli??cated (the procedure) is, is determined by their prescription. Sometimes you have to fine tune it to get the kind of vision you want.”??
A graduate of
Rice University and Southwestern Medical School, Dr. Boothe completed his residency at Texas Tech University Medical School He then completed a cornea fellowship at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA Medical School, where he specialized in refractive surgery. He has performed more than 25,000 successful LASIK surgeries.??
Connie Zuffinetti, a registered nurse, and the eye center’s patient public relations coordina??tor, said she takes pride in work??ing for her boss. Both of her children have had their vision corrected by Dr. Boothe and she has the satisfaction of seeing the changes in other patients after surgery. One man, she recalled, literally left their office singing: “I can see clearly now, the rain is gone???¬??.

Dear Dr. Boothe,
Thanks for my great eyes! Monovision worked for me. I went from wearing bifocals to seeing clearly without any glasses. I can’t believe I was scared! It was so easy and didn’t hurt a bit.
The first thing I noticed after my Lasik correction was how many individual leaves I could see on the trees behind my house. Wow! I’ve never had eyesight so clear and crisp. Every day I appreciate your skill and talent.
My husband, Rick also loves his new eyes. After a lifetime of coke-bottle glasses I didn’t think he’d ever be able to ditch his glasses. But he did!
You’re the greatest Dr. Boothe - with an e.
Thanks Again,
Becky Wight
